Community Programs
Golden Heart Access Fairbanks is a collaboration between local organizations to help offers seamless access to downtown businesses, dining, and entertainment. Designed for multi-modal connectivity, we help create programs to support biking, connectivity to public transit options, and pedestrian experiences. Supporting economic growth, we aim to improve access for businesses and reduce barriers to visiting downtown.

Girls Who Weld!
New Bike Parking, Built By the Next Generation
Fairbanks is rolling forward in 2025 with exciting new bike infrastructure — and it’s powered by local talent!

In partnership with FAST Planning, Alaska Educator of the Year Pete Daley, and the incredible Girls Who Weld program, a new wave of beautifully designed, locally fabricated bike racks is popping up around town.

What makes them special?
They’re created by 16 talented high school students — all young women — who are learning to weld, design, and build as part of a program that’s reshaping what’s possible for the next generation of tradeswomen and community builders.

The Girls Who Weld course is designed specifically for young women to explore hands-on skills, spark career interest, and connect their creativity to real-world projects that make a difference right here in Fairbanks.

These new racks don’t just hold bikes — they hold possibility, equity, and local pride.

Current Hosts Include: Marlow's Bakery, Lumi Coffee/Golden Heart Performing Arts, Co-Op Plaza/City of Fairbanks, Goldstream General Store, Key Bank Building, Gather/Solstice Books, The Crepery

Downtown Core Roads Access Closures
To help keep our downtown clean, safe, and well-maintained, some streets and the friendly lots are closed to parking between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM. These early morning hours give our crews the space they need to plow, sweep, and care for shared spaces—so they’re ready for everyone to enjoy the next day. Thanks for helping us take care of downtown!
Monday City Streets Maintenance Programs
