Citations

You have two options in this case. You can call the office at 907-451-1912 or go to the office at 201 Lacey St. and talk with the general manager who will review the photos taken at the time of citation. Your second option is to put the citation into appeal status by following the instructions at the bottom of the citation.

If the registration was renewed prior to citation and you can provide the registration as proof, the citation can be waived. The enforcement officers do not have access to the DMV database while on-street citing and can cite based on the tabs displayed on the vehicle. Please refer to the "WARNING" on the bottom of your registration.

In 2021 all Downtown parking signs were turned to face oncoming traffic. This came after a few years of complaints that the signs could not be seen until parking.

Enforcement Officers have been instructed by Engineering and Law Enforcement to use the post as the line of delineation. Please trace an imaginary straight line out to the curb and then angle in the direction of parking. Depending on the signs displayed, look to ensure you are on the proper side. Do not look at an angle along the side of your vehicle.

For all intents and purposes, no we do not. Snow covers the lines which makes it hard to see. However, if you parked parallel across multiple spaces in a parking lot you will be cited.

For the majority of the year, the curbs are hidden under snow. It is not cost effective when there is signage in place. The City of Fairbanks does maintain curb painting for Handicap parking and the fire hydrants as well as provide signs. Again, in the winter the curb painting isn't always visible.

Golden Heart Parking Service understands that construction projects in the Downtown Core can be problematic with parking. If you are in a 2-hour parking area, please call in daily for extended 2-hour parking prior to citation. Please have your location and vehicle information with license plate number ready when calling. If you are in a situation where you must drop/pick up materials and find the closest place is a NO PARKING Area, please turn on your hazards and call the Office for further instruction/assistance. In any situation where you may be blocking a roadway, please call the City of Fairbanks permitting office for assistance. Otherwise, you may be cited by the Fairbanks Police Department and your vehicle impounded.
